IMPLEMENTATION OF SAFETY MEASURES IN ALL EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

It has been observed with serious concern that adequate safety arrangements are not being ensured in certain educational institutions of the district, which may pose potential risks to the lives and well-being of students and staff.

In view of the above, you are hereby directed to ensure strict implementation of comprehensive safety measures in all public and private schools under your jurisdiction, with immediate effect. Special emphasis shall be laid on the following:

Electrical SafetyRepair broken switches; install MCBs; prohibit temporary wiring.
Building IntegrityInspect roofs and boundary walls; vacate dilapidated rooms.
Water & HygieneProvide clean drinking water; ensure separate, clean toilets.
Emergency ReadinessMaintain updated First Aid kits and mark clear emergency exits.
Playground SafetyRemove debris, open pits, and hazardous equipment.
DisciplineZero-tolerance for corporal punishment; ensure student supervision.
  1. Electrical Safety:
    • All exposed wiring, broken switches, and unsafe electrical installations must be immediately repaired or replaced.
    • Ensure proper earthing and installation of circuit breakers (MCBs).
    • Unauthorized or temporary electrical connections are strictly prohibited.
  2. Building Safety:
    • Ensure that school buildings, classrooms, boundary walls, and roofs are structurally sound.
    • Any dangerous or dilapidated structures must be reported and vacated immediately.
  3. Clean Drinking Water & Sanitation:
    • Availability of safe drinking water must be ensured.
    • Toilets must be functional, hygienic, and separate for boys and girls.
  4. Emergency Preparedness:
    • First aid kits must be available and properly maintained.
    • Emergency exits should be clearly marked and accessible.
    • Basic awareness regarding emergency response must be given to staff and students.
  5. Playground & Surroundings Safety:
    • Ensure that playground equipment is safe and free from hazards.
    • Remove any dangerous materials, open pits, or debris from school premises.
  6. General Discipline & Supervision:
    • Continuous supervision of students must be ensured to avoid accidents.
    • Corporal punishment is strictly prohibited.

You are further directed to conduct immediate inspections through field officers and submit a compliance report within 07 days positively to the office of undersigned.
